Newton Road Ventnor and Oakdene

Residential

The villas date from the early 1870s and have a restrained but expensive elegance - note how more expensive white brick is used for all the elevations, not just the fronts, and all the arched doors and window lintels are made of carefully fitted gauged (tapered) bricks. The chimneys stand tall and proud above the deep eaves like the funnels of an ocean liner.
