Station Road 36

Commercial

This was originally the mid Victorian Railway Bell public house. At some point in the 20thC it ceased trading and was eventually absorbed into Brunton's Propellers next door. They used the building for extra office and storage space. When Bruntons closed their business in Sudbury early in the 21st century their building next door and their foundry and other buildings down Edgworth Road were all pulled own, but not the old pub building. This was sensitively renovated and is now a shop. Most of the original windows were retained in the renovation but some were added on the return frontage. On the ground floor the corner doorway and adjacent window are original but extra windows have been added on each side.
