June 25, 2026 / 7PM
Sudbury’s heritage is built not only on the buildings and landscapes we treasure, but also on the objects, artefacts, and materials that carry the stories of our past. On 25th June 2026, the Sudbury Society is delighted to welcome professional conservator Jules Castle for an illuminating talk on Conservation in Action.
Jules brings over 15 years of specialist experience in the conservation of historic objects, working with museums, heritage collections, archaeological finds, and even film productions. Her practice combines scientific precision with artistic sensitivity, revealing the extraordinary care required to stabilise, repair, and preserve items that may be hundreds, or even thousands of years old.
This talk offers a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes of conservation work:
- How do conservators decide what to repair and what to leave untouched?
- What techniques are used to preserve fragile materials?
- How do we ensure that future generations can continue to learn from the objects we safeguard today?
For anyone interested in Sudbury’s heritage, craftsmanship, or the hidden stories behind the objects we value, this promises to be a fascinating and inspiring evening. Jules’ work demonstrates how conservation is not simply about repair, it is about respect, understanding, and the long-term protection of our shared cultural memory.
