The steep slope up Constitution Hill may explain why Victorian development came fairly late. Victoria Cottage dates from the early 1800s. The porch is a fairly recent addition but the house still retains much of its original appearance - as may be seen from the Victorian photo of Edward Baker, his wife Esther and his family.
