Oak Lodge in Station Road and Bank Buildings were clearly designed as a single unit when Thomas Ginn built them c1835. He intended the terrace to command a fine view across meadows to the river but the railway arrived and the view was of warehouses and sidings! Oak Lodge actually faces into Station Road and is an dignified and harmonious building in its own right with the deep eaves and tall rather narrow sash windows characteristic of the period.
