This long row of cottages form an attractive group with their pantiled roofs and colour rendered walls. They probably date from the 1840s. In the 1851 Census they were occupied by a mix of brickmakers, handloom weavers and agricultural labourers. Many must have worked for Allens who owned the brickfields, lime kilns and maltings further along the road towards Middleton and Henny.
