Plough Lane 7

The warm red brickwork and panelled doorcase suggest an early 19thC date. However, the lower, southern part of the building has heavy timber framework and in the attic there are sooted rafters, indicating that this part of the house began life as a medieval open hall possibly, along with Ivy Lodge on the corner, part of a large merchants house. Some local people still have fond memories of No 7 when it was the Rising Sun public house.
