Quay Lane 1

Residential

No 1, painted white, exists in a kind of listing limbo. The gabled left hand section, facing directly onto the Lane, is Grade 2 listed as part of No 51 Friars Street, painted pink. It may have been in the same ownership back in the 1970s when Listing was being done but today it is actually part of No 1 Quay Lane along with its entrance porch and cross wing on the right ( behind the tree). These parts of the group are not covered by the Listing. The whole group of timber framed buildings on this corner date back to the 17thC or earlier and make a very significant contribution to the local townscape.
