Formerly part of a much larger building which housed the Town Corporation Refuse and Sewage Works, built in 1903 and designed by the Borough engineer, T.W.A. Hayward. The Refuse Works and its tall chimney has gone but what survives still serves as an embodiment of local civic pride and a good example of the combination of local red and white bricks.
