The exterior is noteworthy for its fine brick detailing and impression of height and solidity. The Victorian shopfront seems virtually untouched from the time when William Burch was working here as a butcher in 1879 and whole carcasses were being carried through the wide front door. There are a number of iron hooks in the ceiling inside and a vast walk-in cold store in the basement below.
