Station Road Kingdom Hall

Community

This was the town Post Office, built 1911-1912. The architect was Alfred Howard LRIBA. He used a vibrant red brick for the sills, lintels and corner quoins which contrast with the white stone and brown brick used elsewhere.
This is unlikely to have been local brick, which was red or white, but imported into the area by train.
