Melford Road Sudbury Hall

Residential

An imposing, mid 19thC mansion, in 1864 the residence of local JP Walter Poley Esq. The columned entrance porch and roof turret add interest to an otherwise rather severe looking building. It became a hotel in the late 20thC but was completely gutted by a fire and left derelict of many years. It has been rebuilt and converted into apartments -sadly the white lions flanking the entrance have disappeared since this 2001 photo was taken. (Entry made in May 2020)
