The small paned windows and the classical feel to the porch suggest a mid-19thC building date. It so the house must have stood in isolation for many years before the neighbouring plots were developed. Clearly, the property has been extended to the north at least once and the oriel window above the porch may be an Edwardian feature. Dr Holden, the Borough Medical Officer, was living here in 1879. By 1901 Amelia George was here with her 16-year old servant girl, Emily Clayton.
